GENESIS 2023 Released
The latest version of our structural optimization software, GENESIS 2023, brings a host of new features and enhancements, including:
- Transient Thermal Analysis: The program can now calculate time-dependent temperatures and print them to the post-processing file.
- Fatigue Analysis Enhancement: The fatigue factor of safety (FOS) can now be calculated for both stress-life and strain-life approaches, for both shell and solid elements.
- Nonlinear Contact and Glue Connection Enhancement: Edge-to-surface and edge-to-edge conditions can now be included in static analysis load cases.
- Transient Heat Transfer Optimization: Transient temperatures can now be used as an objective or constraint in optimization, with the new TTEMP response. This response can be used in any type of optimization.
- New Algorithm for Discrete Optimization: The new “discretizer” algorithm provides an approximate way to optimize problems with discrete variables, using the existing continuous optimizer of the program.
- New Min-Max and Max-Min Objective Functions: The program can now optimize vector responses, with objective functions that minimize a linear combination of the minimum of the maximum components of each referenced vector response or maximize a linear combination of the maximum of the minimum components (or the reciprocal) of each referenced vector response.
- New Fatigue Optimization Response: Fatigue factor of safety (FOS) can now be used as an objective or constraint in optimization, with the existing FATIGUE and GFATIGUE responses.
- New Fabrication Constraints for Topology Optimization: The user can now control the minimum and maximum depth growth of linear, radial, and normal to surface fabrication constraints.
- Topology Optimization with Extrusion along a Circular Path: Extrusion fabrication constraints can now grow along a perfectly circular path.
- Enhanced Topology Optimization with Normal to Surface Fillings: The SURF data can now reference shell meshes in addition to outer surfaces of solid meshes.
- Improved Topology Optimization Performance: The pre-processor for overhang angle constraints used in additive manufacturing processes has been improved for faster performance.
These updates and enhancements to GENESIS 2023 will provide users with greater capabilities and more efficient workflows.
Iliad 2023 Released
- Our multidisciplinary Design Optimization software, ILIAD™ 2023, update brings several exciting enhancements, including the addition of radial basis functions for response surface creation in both the design of experiments and response surface approximation components. The response surface approximation component now includes Latin hypercube as a starting strategy option.

- The What-if tool has been upgraded to be quicker and can now construct all existing interpolation and approximation models. This allows users to easily switch between different models and leverage their utility value more powerfully.

- The Autodesk® Moldflow® Insight interface has been enhanced to enable the modification of gate locations and other boundary conditions such as coolant temperatures. It’s also possible to alter filling pressure profiles.

“Quick Domains for Shape Optimization – Making Domain Creation Automatic”
The latest version of Design Studio, 2023, introduces a new feature called Quick Domains, which automates the process of creating domains for shape optimization. Shape optimization involves pushing the shape of an existing structure into the most efficient solution for the given objectives and constraints. Quick Domains creates domains automatically by closely surrounding the structure based on a user-defined size, eliminating the need for manual interpretation and resulting in consistent solutions. The shape, location, and connectivity of the domains can be modified after creation, and perturbations can be assigned to optimize the model using Genesis. The feature is illustrated in a training example in the Design Studio for Genesis 2023.
